What you will be doing 

You will be responsible for sourcing and onboarding new brands for Tanagra as well owning all business development and creative collaborations opportunities

Our Buying Director is responsible for setting the omni-buying strategy, OTBs, product lifecycle, and gross margin in alignment with the Tanagra vision.

In addition, you will be responsible for the full life cycle of stock from what stock to buy, to where it should be allocated and to how it should be sold or disposed of, as well as managing the logistics of this cycle to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

 Key Responsibilities:        

 Strategic 

  • Set the Buying strategy in line with the Business objectives and contribute to the overall process of decision-making
  • Set a regional and global expansion strategy
  • Maximise relationships with brands and influence the buys
  • Champion the relationships with supply chain, marketing, operations and ecommerce
  • Work with Tech and Ecommerce functions to optimize the product positioning
  • Set Buying policies and procedures in order to ensure all relevant requirements are fulfilled to deliver high-quality services
  • Set the yearly budget in line with plans and needs and monitor the implementation of the budget
  • Generate and develop the gross margin during budgeting and ensure they are achieved
  • Ensure that gross margins and sell-out targets developed during budget are accurate, achievable, challenging and meet management’s requests
  • Ensure that specific potential of each store by validating sell-out targets by store
  • Ensure that overall sell-out targets by store is in line with sell-out by categories at regional level
  • Ensure that the potential of the stores, in terms of purchase, is well captured by defining store grading and assortment range by type of stores
  • Monitor that the right lines of products are selected during buying to ensure a high level of sell-out
  • Ensure that the tools and KPIs are in place in all countries to implement replenishment
  • Liaise with suppliers for discounts/ better terms when needed (or when supplier delays)
  • Optimize inventory management in the region
  • Ensure that stock ageing levels remain within budget targets for all Brands handled
  • Propose discounts to maintain stock coverage
  • Monitor MIA activity and provide recommendations when needed
  • Provide analysis on pricing vs online prices, prices in Europe, etc. on a quarterly basis

Previous Experience 

 

  • Must have Luxury Homeware experience (multi-brand)
  • Has existing relationships with high end brands 
  • Experience online and offline, with a strong understanding of how to target different customers (ie Gen Z and Millennials)
  • Ability to set up Tanagra Buying strategy in line with growth for the next 3-5 years both online and offline
  • Ability to build and lead a team of buyers
  • Scout new brands to add to the Tanagra portfolio
  • Collaborative mindset and strong relationship building skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and omnichannel mindset
