What you'll be doing
The Procurement Director will oversee and lead the strategic sourcing process for non-merchandise goods and services, managing the annual spend for the Group, along with supplier management. This leader will align procurement strategies with the objectives of Chalhoub Group, emphasizing cost savings, efficiency, quality, and strong supplier relationships. The role involves establishing a category management approach across various categories, including logistics, facilities management, IT services, marketing, and indirect spend, to optimize procurement processes and enhance supplier performance. The Director to promote best practices and drive innovation within the procurement function to maximize value for both the Group and its partners. Additionally, they will analyse market trends and supplier capabilities to identify opportunities for value creation and risk mitigation within each category. This leader will manage the Procurement Department and report to the Group Chief Financial Officer.
- Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Develop and implement the procurement strategy aligned with the company’s long-term objectives.
- Establish and manage category strategies across various spend areas, including direct, indirect, and services procurement.
- Drive continuous improvement in sourcing, contract management, supplier relationships, and risk management.
- Act as a business partner to other functions to ensure alignment of procurement with corporate priorities and objectives.
2. Supplier and Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure the best quality, service, and terms.
- Develop a supplier evaluation framework to monitor, assess, and enhance supplier performance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and anticipate needs, promoting procurement as a key contributor to the organization’s success.
3. Financial and Operational Excellence
- Cost Reduction: Lead initiatives to reduce costs while ensuring high quality and SLA delivery.
- KPI Development: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement to drive and monitor performance improvements.
- Budget Management: Own budget preparation, forecasting, and spend analysis to align with financial goals.
- Compliance and Ethics: Ensure the procurement team adheres to ethical standards and sustainability practices.
4. Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team to build a high-performance culture.
- Foster a collaborative environment that promotes learning and growth within the team.
- Identify training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and drive operational excellence.
5. Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure procurement activities are conducted in full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop risk management strategies to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
- Drive sustainability initiatives in procurement, promoting responsible sourcing and environmental impact reduction.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field. (CIPS/MCIPS) and/or a Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 12 years’ experience in indirect procurement with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally within the retail or FMCG sector. Direct procurement experience is a plus.
- Technical Skills: SAP Ariba experience is a requirement. Strong knowledge of procurement systems, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
- Strategic Mindset: Proven track record of developing and executing procurement strategies that drive value.
- Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and leadership abilities to influence cross-functional teams and foster strong supplier relationships.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
