What you'll be doing
We are looking for an experienced Senior Shipping Coordinator to join our Egypt Shipping Operations team. The role will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating import and export shipments in Egypt, ensuring smooth execution across shipping documentation, customs clearance, freight coordination, and final delivery to the warehouse.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in the Egyptian shipping and customs environment, with the ability to manage shipment processes independently, monitor operational performance, control shipping-related costs, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee import shipments from initiation through customs clearance and final warehouse delivery.
Manage and verify shipping documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Egyptian import procedures and customs regulations.
Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, carriers, and relevant authorities to ensure timely shipment execution.
Monitor shipment progress, proactively address delays and operational challenges, and ensure adherence to agreed timelines and service standards.
Review and verify freight forwarder invoices against agreed rates and pricing schedules, following up on discrepancies when required.
Ensure shipments are appropriately insured and coordinate the investigation, follow-up, and settlement of shipping-related claims.
Monitor shipping costs, documentation accuracy, and operational discrepancies, escalating issues and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
Maintain accurate shipment records, operational trackers, and performance metrics within the relevant systems.
Prepare and update shipping reports using Excel to monitor shipment status, costs, timelines, and outstanding actions.
Ensure compliance with applicable Egyptian customs, import, shipping, and other relevant regulatory requirements, as well as internal company policies and procedures.
Identify process gaps, investigate operational issues, and support continuous improvement across shipping operations.
Immediately report and follow up on any breaches of company policies, quality management procedures, health and safety requirements, environmental standards, or security protocols.
Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient shipment handling and smooth delivery to the warehouse.
What you’ll need to succeed
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in shipping/logistics operations, with strong hands-on exposure to import and customs clearance in Egypt.
Proven expertise in Egyptian import procedures, customs documentation, and clearance regulations.
Strong understanding of the end-to-end shipping process, from shipment initiation and documentation through customs clearance and final warehouse delivery.
Experience managing relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, carriers, and relevant authorities.
Experience reviewing freight invoices, validating agreed shipping rates, and following up on shipment insurance and claims.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments independently.
Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills are mandatory, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
Candidates based in Cairo, particularly in or near Nasr City, are preferred.
